Obit: Campbell, Amelia (1822 - 1906)
Surnames: CAMPBELL MARSH SPARKS ---------Source: HUMBIRD ENTERPRISE (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) 06/23/1906 --------- Campbell, Amelia (8 APR 1822 - 17 JUL 1906) Mrs. John Campbell died Sunday night at her home in this village (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.), and was buried Wednesday afternoon in the Mentor Cemetery. She was a member of the F. M. Church, but owing to the absence of its past, the funeral sermon was preached by Rev. G. B. Haskell of the M. E. Church. Many old friends and neighbors gathered at the church to pay their last tribute of respect to the departed. Amelia Marsh was born at Stanstead, Canada, April 8, 1822, and moved with her parents to Wisconsin in 1848. She was married to John A. Campbell at Whitewater March 25, 1853. They came to Garden Valley in 1867 and have since then made this vicinity their home. She leaves an aged husband, one daughter, Mrs. Henry Sparks of this village, two sisters and one brother to mourn for her. Three children have preceded her to the eternal home. Mrs. Campbell was a great home woman and into that word home were gathered her most sacred memories. She will be sadly missed by the one to whom she has made life pleasant during a companionship of more than half a century. An aged pioneer has gone, but her many acts of kindness will linger in the hearts of the early settlers who knew her best. |
