10 Years Ago, February 4, 1993 At the city council meeting, Ron Zais was promoted from temporary part-time police officer to permanent part-time officer.

25 Years Ago, February 2, 1978 James Huff of Huff Implement is the new owner of the former Boyd Auto Service in Boyd.

40 Years Ago, February 7, 1963 Patricia Brodacki, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Brodacki, has been named the D.A.R. winner at Stanley High School. A heart attack took the life of Fred Zais, longtime deputy sheriff and police officer, early Monday morning as he was shovelling snow in front of St. Anne’s Convent on South Franklin Street.

50 Years Ago, February 5, 1953 The board of education approved the contract hiring of Mrs. Horace Gonsted of Gilman to serve as school librarian. Gerald VanErt has again won the Northwest Wisconsin Golden Gloves championship in the novice heavyweight class.

60 Years Ago, February 5, 1943 Charles Baldeschwiler has been using his caterpillar on the big snowplow to open up the side roads, where the town plow was unable to plow.

70 Years Ago, February 3, 1933 Joseph Tronick has purchased the plant, building and good will of the Stanley Luggage Company on North Braodway and will operate it under the name of Tronick Truck Company.

100 Years Ago, February 7, 1903 The Nye. Lusk and Hudson mill of Eidsvold has started up for the season’s run.

George Dahl, of the Boyd Times Herald, rejoices in the possession of a new press. The evidences of prosperity in our village are many and various.
