Obit: Foemmel, Ervin (1918 - 2003)
Wednesday, July 16, 2003 edition of the Tribune - Record - Gleaner Ervin Foemmel Ervin Foemmel, 84, Neillsville, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at his home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 12, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Timothy Biebert officiated. Music was provided by Judy Trunkel, organist. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Neillsville Veterans Council. Pallbearers were Dean Larsen, Dwayne Larsen, Ryan Foemmel, Roger Foemmel, Larry Swenor, III and Wayne Gross. Ervin Walter Foemmel was born on Oct. 12, 1918, in Neillsville, to Fred and Margaret (nee Lautenbach) Foemmel. He first worked in Milwaukee. He married Lillian Kindt on April 20, 1941. In 1943, he entered the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. North Carolina in the Asia-Pacific campaign. Later he moved his family to his hometown of Neillsville and purchased a dairy farm. He owned the A & W restaurant, Erv's House of Cheer, the Neillsville Mobile Home Court, and he built several homes. He enjoyed fishing, card playing, and his friends. Survivors include his wife Lillian; three daughters, Sandra (Dennis) Larsen, Neillsville, Bonnie (Wayne) Short, Granton, and Cheryl Ray, Marshfield; one son, Douglas (Carol) Foemmel, Stevens Point; seven grandchildren, Dean, Dwayne, and Nicole Larsen, Stephanie Short, Ryan Foemmel, and David and Rebekka Foemmel; two great-granddaughters, Samantha and Sophie; and one brother, Raymond (Doris) Foemmel, Mesa, Ariz. Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepfather, Dave Sief; one brother, Alfred Foemmel; and one son-in-law, Jefferson Ray, III. The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
