Obit: Lee, N.E. (1850 - 1925)
Source: THE NEILLSVILLE PRESS (Neillsville, Clark County, Wisconsin) 04/30/1925 N.E. Lee, known familiarly as Ell Lee, passed away at his home at Granton, Saturday, April 18, 1925, after a lingering illness, having been in failing health for four years. Noble Ell Lee was born at Perishville, New York, May 7, 1850, and lived there until 19 years of age. He then came west and soon after bought the land now, within the village limits of Granton, where he developed a fine farm. His life as a pioneer was filled with experiences that all must have who succeed in a new country – hard work, careful saving of resources, and steady industry. Mr. Lee had the qualities that fitted him to meet these experiences and overcome difficulties. He was a man who was respected and trusted because of his integrity. He developed a good farm and had a taste for good stock and was especially fond of good horses. In many ways, he contributed to the up building of his community. Mr. Lee was married March 26, 1873 to Miss Ella Allen of the Town of York, who survives him. To them were born one daughter, Mrs. L. G. Morris of Delafield, Wisconsin, and two sons, Price at home, and Rollie, who lives in Oregon. He leaves two brothers, one in New York and another T. F. Lee in the Town of York, and one sister, Mrs. Augusta Lawson of Minneapolis. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday, April 21, Rev. Wilson Mallory officiating |
