Will C. Hahn died at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire last Saturday, where he had been taken eight weeks previous for an operation for kidney trouble, from which he has suffered for some time. He was thought to be recovering, when complications arose on Thanksgiving Day, a second operation was performed. His vitality was too far taxed to withstand the results of the second operation, and after nine days of intense suffering, death relieved him, his parents and sister and brother being at his bedside when the final summons care. The remains were brought to this village (Humbird, Clark County, Wis.) Saturday night and taken to his late home. On Tuesday, Dec. 10, funeral services were held at the town hall, conducted by Rev. H. G. Schmid, pastor of the Reformed Church, assisted by Rev. F. M. Prucia, pastor of the M. E. Church. Both spoke words of hope and consolation to the bereaved relatives and friends, which were listened to intently by the largest congregation that had ever gathered here to pay the last tribute of respect to the dead. The flowers were many and beautiful, a loving tribute from friends in Milwaukee, Appleton, Eau Claire, Augusta, Fairchild and Humbird, and also from the members of the Alumni Association. How appropriate these tokens, for his was a path marked with deeds of kindness and cheer; flowers not thorns, sunshine not shadow did he scatter everywhere.

Death is sad. Sad when it comes to the little one in the cradle though unconscious of sorrow or pain. Sad when it comes to the aged one bowed down with the weight of years, and doubly so when it claims for its own one just in the bloom of young manhood. With honest tears of bereavement many followed the cortege to the Mentor Cemetery to lay the mortal remains of him who was their friend, away in the narrow house with its curtains of fadeless green.

William Carl, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hahn, was born at Humbird, Aug. 11. 1887. With the exception of a period of fourteen months spent at Merton, Wis., he had been a continuous resident at the home of his parents in his native village. As a child he enetered the grades of the local school, progressing rapidly he emerged, through diligent effort, a bright young man and was graduated from the Humbird High School with the class of 1905. During his school days he formed and cemented many strong bonds of friendship, which will never be forgotten. Upon the completion of his course he demonstrated a sincere interest in the High School Alumni Association. In this work his sterling services may well be termed the society's success. As a token of the love and esteem in which he was held by his fellow members, it may be said that he was twice chosen as the society's president, and by his request members of the association acted as pallbearers. They were W. E. Waters, R. A. Creviston, A. L. Fradenburg, C. H. Fristad, G. H. Miller, W. H. Russell, the latter being Mr. Hahn's classmate.

In his everyday life he extended to everyone alike the hand of friendship, and numbered his friends only by the extent of his acquaintance. Ever ready to sacrifice personal pleasures for another he found his way to the hearts of all with whom he came in contact.

This young life of golden opportunities was destined to be recalled by its Maker. Stricken with his last illness he proved a patient and hopeful sufferer. The prayers of relatives and friends were ever with him. Let us hope and believe that all is well and that the severed ties may one day be reunited. The Angel of Death has issued the summons and at twelve o'clock, noon, Dec. 7, 1912, Will was folded into the arms of his Heavenly Father. There are left to mourn, his parents, one sister, and one brother.

Greulke and son, Mr. Henry Schultz, Mrs. Fred Thur and son, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Thur, Miss Tena Seig, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Waterpole, Mr. Henry Schlicter, Mrs. Fred Miller, Fairchild; Mr. Charles Russell, Ingram; Dr. J.
