Mr. and Mrs. Nick Schaffer visited at Rice Lake Sunday.

Mrs. Otto Dins was at the Marshfield hospital several days for medical treatment.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward G. Mraz of Coloma are guests this week of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Bane.

Mrs. Paul Draeger is visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Rev. and Mrs. Edwin Becker in Marine, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Armin Christofferson of Stanley were guests Monday at the home of Mrs. Edna Dins.

Mrs. J. T. Selves left for Greenwood where she will spend the winter months at the old folks home.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Venke of Colby, Route 1, at the Marshfield hospital September 14.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Beyerl and Miss Harriet Johnson spent Sunday with Rev. and Mrs. Smith at Rice Lake.

Miss Malena Grambort and Fred Grambort of Chicago, Ill., former Colby people, are spending several days here.

Mrs. Ed Augustine of Stratford and Mr. and Mrs. Evan Augustine of Washington, D.C., visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Senkbeil, Thursday.

A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Roger Olson of Dover, Delaware, September 13. They now have two children, two girls. Roger is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Olson of Colby.

George Vrana of Rochelle, Ill., visited at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vrana, last week. He and three friends were on their way to the Lac Seul, Canada, on a fishing trip.

Mr. and Mrs. Byron Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Meyer and Mr. and Mrs. Harlow Hibbard spent the week-end at Oshkosh where they attended a silver wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Reil.

Mrs. Lawrence Priem returned to her home after spending several weeks in Tyler, Texas, with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Odum, and children. A son was born to the Odums a few weeks ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Lester Schaeffer and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Frome spent the week-end visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Zassenhaus at Dorland, Ill., and other points of interest in Southwestern Wisconsin and Northern Iowa.

Mrs. Allan Moll, Mrs. Jennie Harschner, Mrs. Gilbert Moll and Miss Lulu Moll, members of the Plover Road Garden Club, Wisconsin Rapids, spent Monday at the John Coates home. Miss Moll was one of Mrs. Coates’ teachers at Colby High School.

Arlynn J. Schneider, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schneider of Colby, and Harley L. Johnson, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Johnson of Unity have enlisted in the engineer corps, U.S. army, and are now at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., for recruit training.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sahn of Kiel, Mr. and Mrs. William Reinemann of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Gorde, Mr. and Mrs. Don Kautzer and daughter, Bonnie, Mrs. Frank Kautzer, Miss Hattie Steinhaus and Miss Emma Steinhaus, all of Sheboygan, returned to their respective homes after attending the wedding of Joanne Wolk and Emery Rahm Saturday.

Virginia Apfelbeck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Apfelbeck, and Marlys Mandel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mandel, are members of the record freshmen class at Whitewater State College. With registration still incomplete, 503 beginning freshmen are included among the 1532 students enrolled at Whitewater. Both Marlys and Virginia are enrolled in the business education curriculum at the college.
