Lois M. Polzin, 85, Abbotsford, passed away on February 14, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Lois was born to Earl and Nettie Knight in New Auburn, on December 7, 1923.

She graduated from the New Auburn High School. After High School she worked as a switchboard operator for the local telephone company.

On March 30, 1949 she married Bernard Polzin in Pine City, Minn. They later settled in Abbotsford. When her children were growing up she was a 4-H leader for the Town of Holton as well as a member of Holton Homemakers. Lois was very active in the community she is a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church of Abbotsford where she was active in the Priscilla Guild. She enjoyed quilting for missions, crocheting name doilies for people all over the world, and knitting the new born hats for St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her other hobbies were playing bingo, scrabble, and yahtzee.

She is survived by her children, Ted (Bonnie) Polzin, Colby, Mary Schalk, Allenton, Esther (Allen) Bremer, Schofield, John (Marcia) Polzin, Elkhorn, Roger (CJ) Polzin, Hatley, Ronald (Claudia), Temple Texas, Nancy Polzin, Medford, David Polzin, Weston, Bunny (Steve) Mertens, Coloma, Charlie (Deb) Polzin, Stratford, and Gloria (Mark) Homer, Medford. She is the loving grandma of 34 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She will be missed by many other relatives and friends.

Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; a son, James E. Polzin; son-in-law, Robert Schalk; one grandson, Douglas Polzin; and her brothers, Homer Knight, William Knight and Leslie Knight.

Visitation will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford on Wednesday Feb. 18, 2009 from 9-11 a.m. A funeral service will take place at the church at 11:00 a.m.. The Rev. Dr. Paul C. Hunsicker will preside. Burial will take place following the service at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
