A NARROW ESCAPE from sudden death occurred in Prentice's camp last Monday. A large tree was about to fall when the choppers shouted to Fred Hyers to "look out," and instead of running out of danger he ran in the direction in which the tree was falling and the top of the tree with a large quantity of limbs torn from other trees came crashing down upon him. It required considerable work to cut through the mass of limbs to extricate him and when taken out it was supposed that he was dead, but he soon revived and came out with no broken bones. It seems that he was struck by a limb and knocked down, but none of the limbs happened to fall on him. If they had he would have been crushed by them. His escape is really wonderful, and the same thing could not probably occur once in a hundred times.
