LEONA M. WALTER/JOHN J. MILKENT MARRIAGE


On Wednesday, Aug. 16th, 1922, was witnessed on of the prettiest weddings of the season, when Mr. John J. Milkent, son of Mrs. Ursula Milkent of Kenosha and Miss Leona M. Walter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Walter of this city (Greenwood, Clark County) were united in marriage at St. Mary's Church, Rev. Achtlich officiating.


The bride was attired in a white dress of satin and georgette and wore a silk veil and wreath of roses and lilies of the valley. She carried a shower bouquet of white roses and smilax.


Miss Irene Walter, sister of the bride, acted as maid of honor. She wore a dress of blue organdy and carried a bouquet of white gladiolas and blue sweet peas. Miss Hazel Sprecht of Marshfield, cousin of the bride was bridesmaid and wore a dress of pink organdy and carried a bouquet of white gladiolas and pink sweet peas. Little Sylvia Walter, cousin of the bride, acted as flower girl. She wore a dress of white organdy and carried a basket of sweet peas.


The groom wore a suit of dark blue serge. The Mr. Harold and George Walter, brother and cousin of the bride attended the groom. Gordon Walter, brother of the bride, acted as ring bearer, carrying a white satin cushion.


At nine o'clock, after the wedding ceremony, a bridal mass was sung. Mr. Geo. McCormick played the Wedding March. After the ceremony a reception was given to relatives and close friends at the home of the bride's parents. The rooms were beautifully decorated in white, pink and blue crepe paper, sweet peas, roses, forget-me-nots and smilax.


The bride is a graduate of the local high school, graduating with the Class of 1920, and since (The rest of my copy was cut off)
