CELEBRATE GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schwarze celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last Sunday, November 11, 1923. The celebration was held at the Otto Schwarze home on route two, Greenwood, Clark County, which is the old homestead of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schwarze. The happy couple were married on Nov. 11, 1873 in the town of Warner.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Schwarze were born in Germany. Mr. Schwarze came to Clark County in 1870, while Mrs. arrived here in 1871. At this time there was little else but wilderness to be seen here and out of a wilderness they made one of Clark County's best farms.

Rev. Otto Vreisen gave a splendid talk in the afternoon, which was followed by a sumptuous supper. All the children and their families, as well as cousins and many other relatives, and near friends were present, making, in all, over one hundred that were there. Following are the names of the children George, Adolph, Albert and Otto Schwarze and Mrs. Fred Brick, all of this city Herman Schwarze of East St. Louis, Mo., Miss Gustie Schwarze of California. Mrs. Bertha Lutzenburger and daughter Eleanor and Mrs. Carrie Eifler of Milwaukee were also present.

Mr. and Mrs. Schwarze are among Greenwood's best known and highly respected citizens, having moved here from their farm three years ago. The anniversary last Sunday was one that will long linger in the memories of all present. The other many friends of the aged couple join the Gleaner in extending best wishes for many more years of happy wedded life.
