Ackerman Family

Pine Valley Township, Clark Co., WI

Submitted by Janet Schwarze

Farm Residence of C. A. Ackerman.

This farm residence of Mr. Ackerman is situated on a good farm of one hundred and sixty acres, which is located a few miles northwest of Neillsville, in the town of Pine Valley. The farm was formerly covered with heavy timber, but since cleared proves to be the best of farming lands. A few years ago his residence was destroyed by fire, and this one was erected in its place. Mr. Ackerman is a native of New York. In 1857 he married Miss Elizabeth Condit, who is a native of New Jersey. In 1864 they moved to Clark County, with no capital or property except a team, a cow, $25 in cash and a few household goods. Although they have met with many losses by fire and other ways, they now have a farm and stock worth $6,000 which is unencumbered.
