Johann Friedrich Schwiesow (1851-1918)


"Coming to Clark County in 1902,"


Johann Friedrich Schwiesow was born Sept. 5th, 1851 in Mecklenburg, Germany., He came to America in June of 1857 with his parents, Friedrich and Sophia Schwiesow, two sisters and one brother. They purchased a farm in Columbus, Dane County and three more daughters where born there. John Fred Schwieso. with his parents and settled on a farm near Columbus, Wis. his father dying when he was sixteen years of age.

In 1870 Johann married a Friedrike Christine Becker and from this union thirteen children where born with only nine making it until adulthood.

Johann and Friedrike Schwiesow came to the Township of Loyal, Clark County in the year 1902. They moved with six of the their nine children and purchased the old saw mill north of Loyal and called it the "Sunny Brook Stock Farm".

Six years later Johann and Friedrike moved into town leaving the farm to the sons Hubert and Walter to run. Johann died on 4-13-1918 and is buried in the Loyal City Cemetery, Friedrike (Rika) died on 6-25-1919 and is buried beside her husband of 48 years.

Their daughter, Elsa Johanna Schwiesow, married Frank Schultz in 1901 and died on 4-27-1919 in Loyal. Etta Schwieso married Christian Jensen in 1910 and died in 1924 in Loyal. Eva Mae Schwieso married James White in 1915 and died 8-25-1945 in Loyal.

Their son, John Karl Schwieso, married Clara Atteln in 1909 and died on 4-26-1921 in Loyal, Clark County, WI. Hubert August Schwieso married Alice White in 1911 and died on 2-17-1925 in Loyal. Walter Ludwig Schwieso married Effie White in 1917 and died in 1960 in Loyal.
