Joseph Ellis & Alzina/Eliza "Lucy" (Braman-Noyes) Hartson

Grant Township, Clark Co., Wisconsin

Joseph Noyes was born about 1833.  When the great Civil War broke out, he joined the Union Army and fought with the Y Battalion of the 1st Minnesota regiment.

In 1870, he married Alzina "Lucy" Braman who was born in Ohio in April of 1849.  They were the parents of four children: Josie (obviously named for his father), John E. (who was the editor of the Greenwood Gleaner at one time), Ellis and one unknown.  Joseph died December 30, 1875.  The cause of his demise was noted on his death certificate as "rheumatism of the heart".  In 1879, his widow, Lucy, married Albert Hartson and he died in 1896.  When she died December 13, 1902, she was buried in the Neillsville City Cemetery next to Ellis, a son who preceded her in death.
