Neillsville native promoted to Navy Captain
In an Oct. 26th ceremony conducted at the United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM), Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska, Commander Gary H. Foster was promoted to the rank of Captain in the United States Navy. Foster is presently the Chief of USSTRATCOM Airborne Operations in charge of the Airborne Command Post, a nuclear weapon command and control platform. He is married to the former Melodie Zschernitz (Louis and Gen), and is the son of Dr. John and Dolores Foster.
Attending the promotion ceremony were Melodie, Brady and Caleb Foster from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Dr. John and Dolores Foster, John and Jayne Perrine and Terry Zschernitz, all from Neillsville, and Mark Foster, from Minneapolis, Minn. Foster is a 1976 graduate of Neillsville High School and a 1981 graduate from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. He entered the Navy in 1983.
