FATHER OF MRS. PAUL DAVEL DIES


Elmer Foster, 87, of 500 N. Division St., Loyal, Clark County, died at 7 a.m. Dec. 18, 1975 at the Veterans Hospital at Madison.


Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, with Rev. Chester Osowski officiating. Burial was made in St. Anthony's Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Vincent Lindner, Ted Schlinsog, Gene Artz, Harry Boushon, Clemens Esselman and Daryl Rowley.


Full military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post 175 with the flag being presented by Gene Artz.


The Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.

Elmer Foster was born April 8, 1888 at Colby and received his education at Colby area schools.

He was married on Oct. 8, 1920 at Merrill to the former Carla Everson. She preceded him in death on Jan. 14, 1972.


He was a World War I veteran, having served in France.

He was a timber cruiser for the former Roddis Lumber Co. in Marshfield for many years. He retired and became a Veterans Service officer at Merrill. Since 1960 he lived in retirement at Merrill, moving to Loyal one month ago.

He was a member of the Merrill Masonic Lodge and a Masonic service was held at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.


He joined the Masonic Lodge in 1909 and on Nov. 28, 1950 he joined Chapter of Royal Arch 226 at Merrill.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Patricia) Davel, Loyal, and two sisters, Mrs. Jack Hobelsberger, Marshfield and Mrs. Frances Riley, Arizona, four grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and two sisters.
