OBITUARY OF MARTIN LUTHER JENKINS


Martin Luther Jenkins passed away at his home southeast of Greenwood, Clark County, Friday evening, Feb. 24, 1928.


Deceased was born in Jefferson County, N.Y., May 22, 1839. He came to Calumet County, Wis. with his parents in 1852. He took part in the Civil War, enlisting in Co. C. 10th Wis. Infantry in 1861 at Menasha, Wis., serving three years and two months. He was mustered out in Milwaukee in November 1864. During his time in the war he was wounded twice, once at the battle of Stone River and again at Chicmauga.


He was united in marriage to Helen A. Scott Nov. 16, 1863. In 1900 they moved to Clark County, where he has since resided. His wife died March 29, 1922.


He is survived by two sons, Ralph M. and George H., and also leaves one daughter, Mary A. The son George and daughter were living with him.
Deceased was a kind and loving husband and father and was well liked by all who knew him.


Funeral services were held from the local Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. D.S. Householder officiating. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
