OBITUARY OF PETER C. JOHNSON


Peter C. JOHNSON, son of Christopher and Johanna JOHNSON was born February 1st, 1861 in Gudbrandsdalen, Norway. He was one of fourteen children of whom five are living.


In 1867 he came with his parents to Black River Falls. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in which he continued steadfast thru out his life.


On March 4th, 1889, he was united in marriage to Gunhild MONSOS. To this union were born five children: Julia (Mrs. Morris ANDERSON, Stevens Point) Cora (Mrs. Geo. VANGSNES, deceased) Paul ALVIN, Sullivan, Ind. Mabel (Mrs. Elmer JOHNSON of Greenwood) Nola (Mrs. Geo. KUEHL, Stevens Point).


Forty-seven years ago they moved to Longwood where they resided until 1908, at that time purchasing the farm on which they lived until the time of his death. He passed away at his home on Saturday, March 9th, after an illness of five months.


Surviving are the following: His wife, one son, three daughters, on sister, four brothers, twelve grandchildren, and two great grand-children.


Funeral service were conducted Wednesday, March 13th, 1:30 PM at the home, 2:00 PM at the Trondjem church, Rev. M. K. ASBERG officiating. Mrs. Axel FLAATEN of Withee rendered three vocal solos accompanied by Mrs. Don WARNER on the piano.


Pallbearer were: Leonard JOHNSON, Clalrence VERHULST, Art and Carl TURNQUIST, Arndt and David DANIELSON.


Mrs. Clarence VERHULST, Mrs. F. DRAKE and Miss Nelda WINDOM had charge of the flowers.


The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery.


Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Paul Alvin JOHNSON of Sullivan, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. Morris ANDERSON Coramae and Morris Jr. Mr. and Mrs. Alvir THORNSON, Withee, Orville THORSON, Owen and Mr. and Mrs. James FRADETTE, Neillsville.
