ALFONS HEMERSBACH

Alfons Hemersbach, 78, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1992, after a long term struggle as a renal patient. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1992, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Father Al Hemersbach, La Crosse, cousin of the deceased officiated.

Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery, Willard, Clark County. Graveside military rites were performed by the Greenwood American Legion. Pallbearers were grandsons, John Gannon, James Gannon, Damian Budzinski, Christian Budzinski, Benjamin Collman, Nicholas Collman, and Joshua Harmsen.

Alfons Hemersbach was born Jan. 16, 1914, in Hoven, S.D., to Frank and Katie Hemersbach. He received his elementary education in the Cashton area schools and graduated from Aquinas High School, La Crosse, in 1932. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion. He married Hedwig Janezich March 1, 1943, in Spartenberg, S.C.. She preceded him in death Feb. 12, 1991. They farmed together in the town of Warner until 1976. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Greenwood school board National Farmers Organization Clark County Democratic Party and various church organizations.

Survivors include one son, Steven (Carol), Greenwood four daughters, Marcia (Robert) Gannon, Marinette Linda (Henry) Budzinski, Eau Claire Roberta (Harold) Harmson, Eau Claire Georgia (Richard) Collman, Coral Gable, Fla. 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson three brothers, Edward, Morris, Ill. William, Waukegan, Ill. and Linus, Tucson, Az. four sisters, Helen Steffen, Withee Freida Thorson, Owen Lydia (Bill) Brown, Milwaukee and Angela (Martin) Merlak, Wonder Lake, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Henry.

Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
