Obit: Hallowell, Alaire (Steffen) (20 June 1928- 1967)
Loyal-Mrs. James Hallowell, 43, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Humlie, pastor, officiating, and burial will follow in the Lutheran cemetery.
Visitations may be made at the Roycraft Funeral Home from noon Thursday until 9 a.m. Friday, when the body will be taken to the church.
The former Alaire Steffen, was born in the town of Beaver July 20, 1928. She graduated from Loyal High School and then attended Taylor County Normal at Medford.
On June 17, 1950, she was married in Marshfield to James Hallowell. Following their marriage the couple farmed in Clark County, where Mrs. Hallowell also taught school for 10 years, resigning in August because of her health.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a 4-H Club leader for several years.
Survivors are her husband; five sisters, Mrs. Henry (Helen) Schuh of Curtiss, Mrs. Charles (Irene) Wittlinger of Rice Lake, Mrs. Jack (Rose) Dumler of Riplinger, Mrs. Walter (Caroline) Boettcher of Stratford, and Mrs. Orlo (Iris) Furman, Loyal; two brothers, Emil Steffen Milwaukee, and Harry Steffen, Germantown, N.Y., and her mother, Mrs. Rena Steffen, Loyal.
Her father and a sister preceded her in death.
