JOSEPHINE PABICH (1905-2000)


Josephine Pabich, 95, of Thorp, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2000, at the Oakbrook Health and Rehab in Thorp.
She was born January 10, 1905, in the Town of Withee, rural Thorp, to Anton and Julia (GALINSKI) PAPIERNIAK. She lived her entire life in the Thorp area.


She was united in marriage on September 1, 1930, to Joseph PABICH at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. She worked for many years at Pabich's Grocery Store.


She was a charter member of the Busy Bee Homemakers and a member of the St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Rosary Society. She loved gardening and flowers.


Survivors include two sones, James (Eva Mae) of Thorp and Henry (Shirley) of Stanley two daughters, Barbara JOHNSON of Washington, D.C. and Mary Ellen (Carl) SCHWANK of Mt. Rose, CO a brother, Anton PAPIERNIAK of Virginia a sister, Helen HOLLUB of Chicago, IL 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.


She is preceded in death by her parents her husband, Joseph, who passed away April 10, 1973 a son, Richard three brothers and three sisters.


Funeral services were held Monday, January 31, at St. Bernard's-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. Father John Puerner officiated. Her grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was in St. Hedwig's Cemetery in Thorp.


Thorp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
