FRANK PEKOL, SR.


Frank Pekol, Sr., 70, of Route 1, Willard, Clark County, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital at about 6:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 10, 1977.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard, with Rev. John Heagle officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.


A Rosary service was held at 7:45 by the SKJK Lodge and a wake service at 8 p.m., Tuesday, at the church. Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.


Frank Pekol, Sr. was born to Joseph and Helen (Zupanc) Pekol on Oct. 6, 1906, in Joliet, Ill. He received his education in Joliet Schools and the rural Willard School. He worked in Waukegan, Ill. in the steel mills until 1927, when he came to the Willard area. He was married to Mary Rakovec on July 18, 1934 in Willard. In 1969 he retired and was still active in the Willard Athletic Club. He was a member of Holy Family Church, the SKJK Club for 50 years, and the Catholic Council of Men.


Surviving him are his wife, Mary one son, Frank, Jr., Neillsville one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Margie) Hagen, Neillsville three brothers, Joe, Greenwood, Stanley, Wausau, and Edward, Willard three sisters, Mrs. John (Julie) Pernic, Greenwood, Mrs. Ivan (Mary) Ruzic, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Helen Zulick, Lodi, Wis. and eight grandchildren.


Preceding him in death was one daughter, Angeline.


Pallbearers were Paul Klancher, Frank Parkel, Jr., Anton Gosar, Don Kirn, Stanley Suda and Henry Lamovec.
