RICHARD GIESE


Richard B. Giese, 90, of 201 Union St., Loyal, Clark County, who has been residing at Neillsville Memorial Home since January, passed away at the home on Saturday evening, March 5, 1977.


A 9:30 a.m. committal service at the Loyal Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Loyal, was held on Tuesday, March 8. Rev. Eugene Carlson officiated and Miss Terri Rakovec was the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. Julie Feldt on the organ. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.


Richard B. Giese was born to Charles and Amelia Buss Giese on March 28, 1886, at Brillion, Wis. He received his education at rural Brillion Schools.


Mr. Giese was one of the pioneer workers in Wisconsin's early lumber camps. At the time of his marriage on Dec. 25, 1909, to Caroline Bender at Shawano, he and his brother operated a meat market at Cecil, Wis.


Later he worked a number of years for the Chicago and Northwestern Railway as a scale inspector at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and later as a bridge and building foreman at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He also operated the Eagle Grove Ice Company.


Mr. Giese farmed for awhile at Glen Flora, Wis., and then operated cheese factories at Tony, Wis., Poskin, Wis., Eagle Grove, Iowa, Edgar, and for quite a number of years, at Loyal.


After retiring from the cheese business he operated the Farmers Milling Company at Withee. He and Mrs. Giese moved back to Loyal in 1963, where he was residing until January, when he moved to Neillsville Memorial Home.


He was a member of the Loyal Methodist Church and a 50 year Mason.


Richard Giese is survived by two sons, Edward of Rice Lake, and Richard of Middleton four brothers, Ray of Shawano, Alfred of Little Suamico, William of Green Bay and Adolph of Shawano four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
