OBITUARY OF SARAH JANE MEEK


Sarah Jane Meek was born at Rosedale Feb. 5, 1849 and passed away at the Veterans Hospital at Waupaca, Wis. on Thursday, March, 27, 1941.


Most of her girlhood days were spent at Black River Falls, Wis. From there the family moved to Alma Center, later moving to Greenwood, Clark County, residing here until 1907.


She was united in marriage to Geo. Meek in 1867. To this union five children were born, two of whom, along with her husband, preceded her in death.


Mrs. Meek, for over fifty years, was an active member of the Methodist Church, including the church here at Greenwood. Her husband, being a Veteran of the Civil War, her active interest was centered in the Women's Auxiliary of the G.A.R.


She leaves to mourn her loss her three sons, Charles of Yakima, Wash., Hugh of Wisconsin Rapids Ralph of St. Paul, besides one brother living in Black River Falls and one sister residing at Owen.


Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church on Sunday, March 30th, the Rev. A. J. Abbott officiating. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Wheaton of Alma Center, mark Meek, Alma Center, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Harmer, Black River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. James Harmer and son Francis, Black River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Durwood Preston, sister Anne, and daughter, of Hixton, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Meek and daughter and son of Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Meek and son, St. Paul, Donald Tufts, St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Shanks of Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Anderson, Stevens Point, and Mr. Dick Ferrel, Marshfield.
