DEATH OF OLE JORGENSON, SR.


A sad accident occurred near Longwood, Clark County, Monday, Sept. 8, 1913. Mr. Jorgenson and his son Ole went to Withee to get a steel culvert for a new turnpike. When they go within a mile of Longwood on the way home, the team became frightened and started to run, and when within half a mile of Longwood, Mr. Jorgenson lost his balance and fell head first between the horses. The team did not get away from Ole, Jr., who stopped them on top of the hill in from of Ed Missling's.  Marcus Anderson, from Withee, came along with his auto and picked up the injured man, taking him to Withee, where medical aid was summoned. About 9 o'clock in the evening, his son Ole and the doctor took him home. His suffering was terminated at 2 o'clock the following morning, when death came to his relief.


He leaves to mourn, a brother, Louie of Longwood, Olaf at Seattle, Wash, Axel at Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Carl Erickson, who was sent to the hospital for the insane at Mendota, and Ole and Harold, who were always at home with him.
The funeral was held at the Norwegian Lutheran Church, Thursday afternoon, Sept. 11th, Rev. J.C. Hanyom officiating, and burial was in the Norwegian Cemetery.


Ole Jorgenson was born in Eidsvold, Norway, Jan. 18, 1835 and came to America in Oct. 1882, to Longwood, where he has since resided. Deceased was 78 years, 7 months and 20 days old.
