DEATH OF LILLIAN NEWTON DUNN
 

The following was taken from the Independent of Woodburn, Oregon about the recent death of a former Greenwood, Clark County girl:
Mrs. Caroline Lillian Dunn died at the Willamette Sanitorium, Salem, April 16, 1911, aged 28 years, 5 months and 25 days.

Deceased was the wife of P. T. Dunn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. D. Newton and sister of Miss Ethel Newton. Her demise followed a few days after the birth of her son. She was a lady most highly esteemed in this community and her death is mourned by a large circle of friends, who deeply sympathize with the bereaved ones.

Services were held Tuesday morning in the Presbyterian Church, Woodburn, Rev. T. T. Vincent officiating. In referring to the deceased Rev. Mr. Vincent read the following communication from Rev. Henry Townsend Babcock, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Salem: "I was called from home Easter morning at 3 o'clock by Mrs. Dunn's request. After talking with her we had scripture and prayer together, and Mrs. Dunn clearly expressed her faith in Christ as he Savior. When I had finished repeating the 23rd Psalm to her she said, That is my belief . At this time the strain became too great for her and we all left the room to give her rest. A little after half-past four we again went to her bedside, and after her open confession of Jesus Christ before us all, I baptized her, the regular baptismal services of our church being used. Her answer to the question as to the confession of her sins and acceptance of her Savior was made so that we all distinctly heard her words I do . We again left the room for her to rest, but those were the last words I heard her speak, for at seven minutes to five, like Mary as it began to dawn, Mrs. Dunn met her Risen Lord. We were all on the porch of the Sanitarium watching the dawn of this Easter day, when we were told that she had passed away. It is my firm conviction that Mrs. Dunn is now in the presence of her Risen Lord and Master. The circumstances of her (the rest was cut off)"
