THERESA PARKEL


Mrs. Theresa Parkel, 96, a former Willard, Clark County resident from Greenwood, passed away at 9:15 p.m., Tuesday, May 17, 1977, at Memorial Home, Neillsville.


Funeral services for Mrs. Parkel were conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, May 20, at Holy Family Church, Willard. Father John Heagle officiated and interment was made in the Holy Family Cemetery, Willard.


Theresa Gjorene was born at Mirnapec, Yugoslavia on Dec. 17, 1880 and received her education in Yugoslavia.


She came to America in 1904 and settled at Frontenac, Kansas, where she was married to Frank Parkel, Sr. on Jan. 18, 1904.


They moved to the Willard area in Oct. of 1917 and farmed in the Town of Hendren until 1974, when they moved to the City of Greenwood.


She was a member of the KSKJ Lodge of Willard and St. Ann's Society and St. Mary's Church of Greenwood.


She is survived by one son, Frank, Jr. of Willard five daughters, Mrs. Theresa Podobnik of Greenwood, Mrs. Ann (Nick) Babich of Loyal, Mrs. Helen (Joseph) Wene of Greenfield, Mrs. Millie (George) Miller of West Allis and Mrs. Donna Singer of West Milwaukee eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.


Serving as pallbearers were Frank Parkel III, Robert Wene, Richard Wene, Charles Singer, John Miller and Jerry Baird, all grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, one daughter, one son, and several brothers and sisters.


Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood, was in charge of arrangements.
