OBITUARY OF ALWORTH STEINHAUS


Alworth Ronal Steinhaus
was born Dec. 16, 1917 near Montello, Wis. In the spring of 1922 he came with his parents to Butler, Clark County, where he lived with his grandparents Dr. and Mrs. B.A. Cole, until his father found work in the Cornell Wood Products Mill at Cornell. In the fall of 1922 the family moved to Cornell, where they have since resided.


Alworth attended schools in Cornell and at the time of his death was a member of the Freshmen class in Cornell High School. He also attended the Methodist Sunday school there.


Although his home was in Cornell, he spent part of each summer with his grandparents in Butler.


Alworth died Jan. 28, 1933 in an automobile accident about two mile south of Thorp, at the age of 15 years, 1 month and 12 days.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Steinhaus, one sister, Lois his grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. B.A. Cole, besides a number of aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends.


Funeral services were held at the Cole home in Butler, Feb. 1, 1933, conducted by Rev. Irish of Thorp. Burial was made in Riverview Cemetery near Withee.


The pallbearers and the choir were schoolmates of Alworth and his music teacher presided at the organ.


Because of Dr. Cole being confined to the hospital with pneumonia, the grandparents were unable to attend the funeral.


Those from away who came for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Steinhaus and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Steinhaus of Montello Mr. and Mrs. U.S. Lawton, J. P. Cumpston, N.D. Sumpston and J. Prucha, of La Farge, Wis. Mr. Hatfield, Principal of Cornell H.S. and a number of schoolmates and friends from Cornell.
