RAYMOND (SWEDE) NEUMAN


Raymond (Swede) Neuman, 63, of 525 North Main, Loyal, Clark County passed away at 11:15 p.m., Friday, July 8, 1977, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. The cause of death was amyotiophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease).


Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, July 11, at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal. Rev. Charles Sanford of United Methodist Church, Loyal, officiated. The body was cremated. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.


Raymond Neuman was born at Arpin on Sept. 30, 1914 to Henry and Lottie Nelson Neuman. He received his education at Loyal Public Schools.


He was married in Greenwood on July 28, 1935 to Helen Church.


They owned and operated Neuman's Bar in Loyal from 1945 to 1966. Then he operated the North Mound Tavern from 1969 - 1970. They moved back to Loyal and operated the Loyal Cafe until 1974, when he retired. He was a member of the Loyal City Council from 1960 to 1969 a member of the Clark County Board from 1960 - 1969 and was acting postmaster from 1961 - 1969, when he resigned.


He was a past president of the Loyal Rotary Club, president of the Clark County Tavern League for 20 years, was a retired fireman for the City of Loyal, a 32nd degree Mason member of the Eau Claire Consistory, a member of the Tripoli Temple of Milwaukee and a 30 year member of the Elks Lodge No. 665 at Marshfield.


He is survived by his wife, three brothers, Harold of Loyal, and Lavere and Kenneth of Milwaukee two sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Evelyn) Meyer of Plymouth and Mrs. Clifford (Bette) Anton of Greenwood.


He was preceded in death by one sister.
