PHILIP S. WHITE PASSES AWAY


Philip S. White
was born in Frankford, Ontario, Canada, Nov. 22, 1848. He was married there to Miss Ellen McKenzie, Sept. 19, 1872. In 1878 they came to the United States, settling in Outagamie County, where they lived until their coming to Clark County in 1880.


Mr. White purchased wild land in the Town of York and lived there for 14 years. In 1899 he obtained a larger section of land near Loyal, which he worked until 1913. Moving to the village of Loyal at this time, he made his home there until the death of his wife in 1919. Since then he has lived with his children, mostly with his son James.


Mr. White passed away shortly after midnight Monday morning, Feb. 20, 1939, at the home of his son James. The cause of his death was heart trouble and pneumonia.


Funeral services are being held today, Feb. 23, 1939 at 2:00 o'clock at the M. E. Church at Loyal, Rev. Raymond J. Fleming officiating. The body will be laid to rest in the Loyal Cemetery beside his wife.


He is survived by fiev daughters, Mrs. George (Ida) Fiddler, Lakeland, Fla. Mrs. Norman (Eunice) Rogers, Harlowton, Mont. Mrs. Alice Swieso and Mrs. James (Mina) Colby, Loyal Mrs. Walter (Effie) Swieso, Greenwood fives sons, Wm. And Dave of Spokane, Wash. Frank of Chattanoy, Wash., and James and Herbert of Loyal, 41 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Emma Phillips, Michigan and Mrs. Catherine Walker, Alabama. Mrs. Walker, who is 83 years old, returned to Alabama several weeks ago after a visit here with her brother. She made the trip alone.
