RITES HELD FOR REV. M. AABERG
RETIRED MINISTER AT GREENWOOD IS BURIED

Greenwood--Funeral services for the Rev. Melchoir K. Aaberg, 87, Greenwood, Clark County, who died at his home Thursday evening, Aug. 30, 1951, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the United Lutheran Church with the Rev. T. M. Nelson, assisted by circuit pastors, officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The Rev. Mr. Aaberg, who served as pastor of the Trondhjem Lutheran Church here for 28 years, retired Jan. 1, 1948, after 46 years in the ministry.

He was born March 11, 1864 in Sogn, Norway, and his marriage to the former Jeannette Lerum took place Oct. 17, 1906 (see family not below) in Minneapolis, and held his first pastorate in Madison, S.D. where he remained for eight years, going from there to Sioux City, Iowa. He also served in Glenwood City, Wis, where he had charge of six congregations for nine years.

In Jan. 1919, he came to Greenwood, Clark County with his wife and five children and for the following 13 years served six congregations at the same time, United Lutheran and Trondhjem Lutheran Congregations, Greenwood Immanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood and the Lutheran congregations at Neillsville, Marshfield (Slidre) and Auburndale.

He served United Lutheran and Longwood congregations for 17 years and later only served the Trondhjem Church, where he had been pastor since 1919.

The Rev. and Mrs. Aaberg had four sons, Karl J., who teaches high school in Mankato, Minn. Arnold, a draftsman in the Pentagon in Washington, D. C. Monrad E., obstetrician in Westwood, Calif. and Dr. E. Lynn (see family note below), Surgeon in Westwood, Calif. one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Fuhlbrigge, supervisor at the Santa Monica Hospital in Los Angeles eight grandchildren one great-grandchild and a brother, Arne K. Aaberg, Ogilvie, Minn.

Five brothers and a sister preceded him in death.

**Note from a family member:
This obit needs a few minor corrections are needed:
1. His marriage was sometime before 1903, because Karl, my late father-in-law and their eldest, was born March 16 of that year.
2. The third son was Monrad, not Conrad, and the youngest was Lindeman (one "n", I think).
3. Myrtle Jeanette (oh, it's Fuhlbrigge not Fhulbrigge) is still living and well in Carlsbad, CA; the sons have all died, Karl last in 1995.
