GERTRUDE H. LARSON


Gertrude Larson, 78, Greenwood, Clark County, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 1989, in her apartment in Stonewall Jackson Hotel in San Benito, Texas. Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood. Rev. James Lesczynski officiated. Cremation will take place and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.


Gertrude (Oberle) Larson was born Dec. 11, 1911 to William and Anna (Liske) Oberle in Thorp, Clark County. She graduated from Thorp High School and attended Eau Claire State Teachers College. She taught in elementary schools in the Tioga and Willard areas. She then earned a degree in special education from the U.W. Eau Claire and taught in Gilman and Spencer, retiring in 1973. She married Peter Larson, March 5, 1934 and was later divorced. She moved to Greenwood in 1977 and spent winters in San Benito, Texas. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and Senior Citizens Club, Greenwood.


Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Ann) Hill, Milton Mrs. Dennis (Darlene) Bucheger, Greenwood; two sons, John Larson, Sterling, Colo.; Lars, Green Bay; one brother, August Oberle, Owen; 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.


Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.


Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, was in charge of the arrangements.
