MRS. ELMER HORN


Funeral services for Mrs. Elmer (Floy) Horn, 85, of Route 1, Chili, Clark County were held at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9.


Officiating at the service was Pastor Charles Sanford. Mrs. Robert Meyer was the soloist and Mrs. Julie Feldt the organist. Interment was in the Veefkind Cemetery.


Floy Sloniker was born at Wonewoc, Wis. on April 2, 1892 to Joseph and Myrtle Sloniker. She graduated from Greenwood High School and attended the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.


Before her marriage to Elmer Horn on June 23, 1920, she taught for 11 years in the Veefkind area and also the Braun Settlement area near Greenwood. During World War II she taught for four years in Clark County. She and her husband also farmed and lived in the Town of Sherman all of their married life.


She was a 4-H Club leader, was active in the Veefkind Homemakers Association and was an officer in the American Legion Auxiliary at Spencer.


She is survived by her husband Elmer one son, Merlyn of Norfolk, Va. two daughters, Mrs. Fern Horn of Stevens Point and Mrs. Harry (Sylvia) Koroghlanian of Milwaukee one brother, Ross Sloniker of Greenwood one sister, Mrs. Oscar (Zula) Miller of Greenwood six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers and one sister.


Pallbearers were Paul Giles, Ross Stevens, Milton Reinheimer, Verlyn Sloniker, Edward Sloniker and William Rahm.


Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.
