HARRY A. SPEICH


Harry A. Speich, 69, prominent Mineral Point attorney was dead on arrival at a Dodgeville Hospital on Friday, April 7, 1978 after suffering a heart attack at his home in Mineral Point.


He was born in Greenwood, Clark County. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1934. Shortly after his graduation from Wisconsin he started his law practice in Mineral Point in 1934.


He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mineral Point, a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association and also the Iowa County Bar Association. He was a 33rd Degree Mason a past grand master of the Grand Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons, a member of the Royal Arch Masons, a member of the Shrine, a member of the consistory and a member of the Commandry, a past master of the Mineral Point Masonic Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons. He served for several terms as District Attorney of Iowa County and was also a former city attorney of the City of Mineral Point. He was a former member of the Iowa County Fair Board and served a number of years as a member of the Dodgeville General Hospital Board.


Mr. Speich married the former Ruby Billington of Madison in 1931.


Surviving him are his wife a daughter, Miss Beverly Speich of New York City two sons, Richard of Jerseyville, Ill. And Thomas of North St. Paul, Minn. six grandchildren one brother, George, Greenwood one sister, Rose, Greenwood.


Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 10 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. A Masonic service was held at the funeral home at 8 p.m., Sunday April 9.
