PAUL DAVEL


Funeral services for Paul A. Davel, 57, of Loyal, Clark County, were conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, April 21 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal.


Paul A. Davel, president of Citizen's State Bank of Loyal and Granton, passed away of cancer at 8:15 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, 1978 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been admitted Jan. 4.


Rev. Chester Osowski officiated at the services and burial was in the parish cemetery. Full Military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion.


A P.C.C. W. Rosary was held at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 20, followed by an Elks Lodge of Sorrow at 7:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 8:30. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.


Paul Davel was born on June 27, 1920 in Loyal. He was the youngest son of Mr. And Mrs. Albert Davel. He graduated from Loyal High School in 1937 and completed his studies at Eau Claire Business College.


He served in the South Pacific during World War II, returning to the United States where he graduated from Officer Candidate School in Abilene, Texas.


He was married to Patricia Foster on Jan. 13, 1945.


He returned to Loyal and resumed his job as bank teller at Citizens State Bank of Loyal where he later became president and director. From 1955-58 he managed the Granton Bank and upon retirement of James Colby in 1958 became president and director of the Citizen's State Bank.


He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Banking in Madison and Midwest Banking Institute of the University of Minnesota at Morris, Minn.


He served on several committees in the Wisconsin Bankers Association and was a member of the Area Wide Advertising Committee and the Bank Finance Committee.


While bank president, a new bank was built at Loyal and a new bank at Granton. He also chaired the Low Cost Housing Authority for the area.


He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 665 of Marshfield, St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal, a former member of the Loyal School Board and past president of the Loyal Rotary Club.


He is survived by his wife, Patricia two sons, Peter of Madison and Scott of Marshfield two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Paula) Maki of Blanchardville, and Dana, at home four grandchildren two brothers, Lawrence of Loyal and Edward, Lombard, Ill. and eight sisters, Mrs. Fred (Evelyn) Nolan, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Scott (Marie) Canney, Algoma, Mrs. Al (Gertrude) Phair of Oshkosh, Martina of Loyal, Mrs. James (Katherine) Bobb of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Lucian (Madeline) Kraczwk, Pulaski, Mrs. William (Jane) Simpson of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Al (Dorothy) Schmook, Madison.


Serving as pallbearers were Carl Myre, George Zuehlke, Jr., Bert Iverson, Gordon Elden, Steve Brussow and Frank Degenhardt.


He was preceded in death by his parents.
