Soltow, Martha (1888 - 1978)


Mrs. Martha Soltow, age 90, of Route 2, Colby, died at Colonial House of Colby at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 7, 1978. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10, 198 at 11 a.m. at the Rinka Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Ault, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church, Riplinger, officiating. Interment will be in the Loyal Cemetery.


Marth Soltow was born on Feb. 28, 1888 in Hutchinson, Minn. to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vorbeck. She received her education in rural schools in Hutchinson, Minn. She was married to Carl Soltow on Dec. 7, 1922, also in Hutchinson, Minn. He predeceased her in Dec. of 1962. After their marriage they farmed in Cosmos, Minn., moving to Hutchinson in 1936. In 1939 they moved to the Town of Beaver, Clark County, where they farmed until 1973. Since 1973 she has lived in the Town of Colby.


She is survived by two sons, George, Route 2, Colby; and Carl, Route 1, Spencer; four daughters, Mrs. Louis (Helen) Wendt, Missoula, Montana; Mrs. Herman (Eleanora) Schultz, Marshfield; Mrs. Edna Sonderegger, Venice, Va.; and Mrs. Elvera Buettner, Newton, Dan.; 10 grandchildren five great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Rose Venstrom, Bemidji, Minn.  She was predeceased by six brothers and three sisters.


Pallbearers will be Daniel Buss, William Hines, Dennis Soltow, Randy Soltow, Darrel Buettner, and Tim Degenhardt.
