Stiemke, Henry H. (1903 - 1990)


Henry H. Stiemke, 87, route 2, Neillsville, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 1990, at Neillsville Memorial Hospital, Neillsville. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 10, 1990, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe. Rev. Paul Reede officiated and burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Globe. Grandsons served as pallbearers.


Henry H. Stiemke was born Jan. 28, 1903, in Helenville, to Robert and Sophie (nee Opperman) Stiemke. He received his education in Helenville and Stratford schools. After school he worked various jobs in the Milwaukee area. He came to this area around 1919 and cleared the farm where he presently lived. He married Bertha A. Lueck June 17, 1928, in Globe. She survives. He and his wife farmed there for 55 years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe.


Survivors include his wife, Bertha four daughters, Mrs. Orin (Jeanette) Janke, Humbird Mrs. Felix (Roselyn) Kotcon, Neillsville Mrs. Lloyd (Irene) Grassman, Granton and Mrs. John (Verna) Zimmerman, Janesville two sons, Theodore Ted Stiemke, Neillsville and Arthur Stiemke, Neillsville one sister, Mrs. Esther Stellwagon, Beverly Hills, Fla. two brothers, John Stiemke, Menomonee Falls and Alfred Stiemke, Omosass, Fla. 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.


He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sister.


Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., Neillsville, handled the arrangements.


Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers.
