Goebel, Wilbert J. (1906 - 1991)


Wilbert J. Goebel, 84, Granton, died Tuesday, March 12, 1991, at his residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 16, 1991, at 11 a.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton. Rev. Allan Saugstad officiated and burial was in the Zion American Lutheran Church Cemetery, Granton. Pallbearers were Ben Adams, Michael Drescher, Richard Sturm, William Mortag, Stephen Drescher and Hubert Dudei.


Wilbert J. Goebel was born March 27, 1906, in the town of Lynn, Clark County, to John and Ida (nee Worchel) Goebel. He received his education the town of Lynn at the Mayflower School. After school he worked at the Elmer Marg Garage. He married Margaret Mesar June 18, 1939, in Granton. She preceded him in death April 14, 1981. He owned and operated the Goebel Garage in Granton for many years until his semi-retirement in the early 1970's. He was a charter member of the Granton rotary Club, an honored Citizen of Granton in 1968, and long time Granton Fire Chief.


Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Marlene) Fuentes, Bloomington , Calif. Mrs. Richard (Marie) Parkinson-Sturm, San Jose, Calif. and Mrs. Stephen (Karen) Drescher, Schofield one sister, Mrs. Gladys Mortag, Milwaukee and one grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his wife and his parents.


Gesche Funeral Home, Inc., handled the arrangements.
