Edens, Hans J. (1910 - 1991)


Hans J. Edens, 81, Granton, died Monday, April 29, 1991, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 2, 1991, at United Methodist Church, Granton. Rev. Thomas LaChapelle officiated.


Burial was in the York Center Cemetery, rural Granton. Pallbearers were Dr. Milton Kier, Gale Oldham, Del Edens, Jesse Richmond, Douglas Edens, and Eugene Tatera. Honorary pallbearer was Bruce Mendez.


Hans J. Edens was born Jan. 14, 1910, in the town of Grant, Clark County, to William and Katherine (nee Jakobi) Edens. He received his education at the Lincoln School in the town of Grant. Following school he began farming. He moved to Illinois where he continued to farm. He married Flora E. Campbell June 30, 1941, in Bowling Green, Mo. After his marriage, he and his wife lived and farmed in Missouri. They moved back to Wisconsin in 1988. He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He was a member of the Loyal American Legion Post 175.


Survivors include his wife one daughter, Mrs. Lydia Hansen, Rockford, Ill. and one granddaughter, Mrs. Bruce (Kristie) Mendez, Chicago, Ill.


He is preceded in death by his parents, one son (Courtney), two brothers and four sisters.


Gilbertson Funeral Home, Granton, handled the arrangements.
