Funeral services for Paul Ampe, 54, of Route 1, Loyal, were conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 4 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal.


Mr. Ampe died Sunday, Oct. 1, 1978, at Veterans Hospital in Milwaukee.


Officiating at the service was Rev. Chester Osowski. Interment was in the parish cemetery.


Paul Ampe was born to Achille and Jean (Morlet) Ampe at Thorp on April 27, 1924 and received his education at Loyal Schools.
He was married on Feb. 17, 1946 at St. Mary's Church, Neillsville, to Clara Aumann.


He was a street commissioner and Chief of Police and water superintended at Greenwood for 14 years and moved to Loyal in 1964. He worked for Schreiner's Plumbing in Marshfield for a short time while still in Greenwood.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Church and of the DAV of Marshfield. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.


Surviving him are his wife three sons, Paul H. of Kenosha, Ronald of Casper, Wyo. And Arlyn of Kenosha two daughters, Mrs. Jacob (Marlene) Susa of Greenwood and Karen of La Crosse six sisters, Mrs. Russell (Pauline) Haupt of Granton, Mrs. Ruth Gotter of Marshfield, Mrs. Ray (Alice) Reinertson of Boon, Iowa, Mrs. Odette Larson of Greenwood, Mrs. Walter (Lucille) Hohl of Greenwood and Mrs. Arlyn (Helen) Ewert of Spencer and eight grandchildren.


Full military rites were conducted by the Loyal Legion Post 175.


Serving as pallbearers were Ronald Rueth, Raymond Wehe, John Weyer, Arnold Haslow, Bob Bertz and Steve Jasurda.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.


Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.
