Pagenkopf, Marian L. (1919 - 2001)


Marian L. Pagenkopf, 81, Conneautville, Pa., formerly of Neillsville and Platteville, died on Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Rolling Fields Nursing Home, Conneautville, Pa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 2, at Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, and from 10 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 3, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. James Gordon will officiate. Burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Norbert Dettmann, Tom Lindner, Don Rowe, Steve Short, Bob Timmler, and Irv Timmler.


Marian Loraine Counsell was born on Oct. 21, 1919, in Neillsville, to Clarion A. and Henrietta (nee Clemens) Counsell. She attended Reed School and graduated from Neillsville High School. She obtained a 3-year academic diploma from Eau Claire Teachers College in 1940. Later, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the State College at Platteville. She married Victor E. Pagenkopf on Aug. 22, 1945, in Auburndale. She taught in the elementary schools in White Lake, Loyal, Bloomer, and Beloit. She also taught at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Doudna Laboratory School and the O. E. Gray School in Platteville. She also taught Crewel embroidery/design for the Southwestern Technical School in Fennimore. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville, and her hobbies included bird watching and traveling.


Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Ron) Sellnau, La Crosse one son, Gary (Pattie) Pagenkopf, Conneaut, Ohio two grandsons, Joel Sellnau, La Crosse, and Elliott Pagenkopf, Conneaut, Ohio one sister, Doris (Harold) Osborn, Carbondale, Ill. and one brothers, Lee A. Counsell, Racine.


She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Victor, in 1993.


Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
