Mildbrand, Ella I. (1906 - 2001)


Ella I. Mildbrand, 95, Dorchester, died on Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at the Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, where she had resided since Feb. 1998. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, April 6, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Dorchester. The Rev. Jerome Freimuth officiated. Burial was in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Jim Mildbrand Jr., Tadd Pribnow, Donald Witt, David Witt, Jason Howard, and Kenneth Smith.


Ella Iren Nelson was born on April 2, 1906, in the town of Little Black, Taylor County, to Otto and Tillie (nee Nelson) Nelson. She was a 1924 graduated of Taylor County Normal (Teachers) School and taught in the area rural schools. She married Edward H. Mildbrand on Jan. 15, 1927. She was a homemaker and she and her husband managed the Clover Hill Cheese Factory in the town of Mayville from 1934 - 1973. Her husband died on Oct. 17, 1986. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing, creating many quilts given to family and friends, and harvesting her large garden.


Survivors include two sons, John Mildbrand, Wausau, and James (Sharon Rogers) Mildbrand, Greenwood four daughters, Marjorie Witt, Abbotsford, Grace (Jack Pribnow, Cornucopia Arlene( Andrew) Smith, Owen, and Judith (Jim) Howard, Hawkins 18 grandchildren 25 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Gordon (Delores) Nelson, Medford.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Mildbrand five brothers and three sisters.


Maurina Funeral Home, Dorchester, assisted the family with arrangements.
