LaBarge, Louis F. (1914 - 2001)


Louis F. LaBarge, 87, Arpin, died on Friday, May 11, 2001, at the Marshfield Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, May 14, at St. James Catholic Church, Vesper. The Rev. Chester Osowski officiated. Burial was in St. James Catholic Cemetery, Vesper.


Louis F. LaBarge was born on Jan. 8, 1914, in the town of Sherman, Loyal, to John and Elizabeth (nee Blanchard) LaBarge. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic School and was a 1932 graduate of Loyal High School. He married Agnes Wehrman on Jan. 18, 1943, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. He farmed in the Vesper area, and worked at Preway, Wis. Rapids, for many years. He also owned and operated a bar and grill in Arpin until his retirement in 1991. He was a past treasurer for the town of Arpin. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Vesper, the Lions Club, and the Arpin Advancement Association.


Survivors include his wife, Agnes LaBarge, Arpin four sons, Joseph J. (Kathleen) LaBarge, Joliet, Ill., Michael (Diane) LaBarge, Marshfield, Raymond (Kathryn) LaBarge, Arpin, and William LaBarge, Arpin two daughters, Carole (Al) Walsh, Paris, Tenn., and Irene (Richard) Luebke, Johnson Creek 11 grandchildren, Kelly, Julie, Michelle, and Christopher LaBarge, Loren Smith Jr., Jeffrey Smith, Brenda Kuhnley, Elizabeth Gulden, Richard Luebke, Kristine Pfeifer, and Russell Luebke four step-grandchildren six great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Raymond Smith.


Buchanan Funeral Home, Pittsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
