Funeral services for Joseph Verschay, 65, of 209 N. Eaton Avenue, Greenwood, Clark County, will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 3 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood.

Mr. Verschay died at 12:20 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 31, 1978 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Officiating at the service will be Rev. Robert Houston. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

The body will lay in state at Rinka Funeral Home, Greenwood after 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 2.

Joseph Verschay was born on March 11, 1913 in Calumet, Mich. to John and Anna (Dragosh) Verschay. He received his education at Willard Schools and too a course in real estate at Marquette University.

He moved with his parents to a farm at Willard in 1915, where he farmed with them until 1946, when he moved to Greenwood and operated the Blue Mirror Bar and built the bowling alley.

He was married to Josephine Laken on Aug. 3, 1946 at Holy Family Church, Willard.

In 1958 he purchased a farm south of Greenwood and became a real estate salesman. He later moved to a farm north of Greenwood. He was town chairman and town treasurer for the Town of Hendren for several years. He was also the assessor for the City of Greenwood. In 1977 he moved to the City of Greenwood.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a Holy Name Member.

Survivors include his wife two daughters, Mary Jo of Madison and Jean of Madison two sons, William of Stevens Point and Richard of Greenwood five sisters, Mrs. Henry (Jean) Isaacson of Marshfield, Mrs. Paul (Ann) Meyer of San Jose, Cal., Mrs. Cecil (Christine) Anderson of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Marie Jeras of Greenwood and Mrs. Erwin (Kay) Grap of Greenwood one brother, John of Neillsville and one granddaughter.

A 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service will be held Thursday evening, Nov. 2.
