Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 27 at St. Anthony's Catholic church, Loyal, for Ted Welsh, 71, of 303 First St., Loyal, Clark County, who died Saturday, Dec. 23, 1978 at his home of an apparent heart attack.


Officiating at the service was Rev. Chester Osowski. Interment was in the parish cemetery and full military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, was in charge of arrangements.


Ted Welsh was born to Grant and Susan Welsh on April 7, 1907 in Loyal and received his education at Loyal Schools.


He was married to Grace Neubauer in Loyal on June 23, 1936.


He worked for Hal Voight and Witt's Meat Market at Loyal for many years. He also did meat cutting in Milwaukee for a few years and worked for Seeman's and Stewart's Cheese Factory. He was employed as a school bus driver for Loyal Public Schools and served as a policeman in Loyal for a year. He was a justice of the Peace for a number of years.


He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the Loyal VFW.


A P.C.C.W. Rosary was held at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday and a Prayer Service at 8 p.m.


Survivors include one son, James of Marshfield two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Joan) Dow of Chicago, Ill. and Mrs. James (Judy) Heidewald of Chicago, Ill. one step-son, Richard Neubauer of Blaine, Minn. 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.


Serving as pallbearers were Steve Neubauer, Jeff Neubauer, William Neubauer, Robert Dow, Jr., Edward Heidewald and John Welsh.


He was preceded in death by two brothers one daughter and one grandchild.
