Mellenthin, Emil (1888 - 1981)


Emil Mellenthin, 93, of Route 1, Spencer, died at his home on Saturday, May 16, 1981.


Funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 18, at 2 p.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, North Spencer. Rev. David Ault officiated and interment was in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Donald Glaman, Ray Gripentrog, Erlan Schweke, Charles Sodbelsek, Jerry Neumann and Delmar Toltzman. Rux Funeral Home, handled arrangements.


Emil Mellenthin was born to the late Wilhelm and Helen Mellenthin on Jan. 22, 1888, in the Town of Unity, Clark County.


He married Elsie Schroeder at St. John's Lutheran Church on Dec. 3, 1913. They farmed at Route 1, Spencer.


He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served as elder and trustee for several years.


Surviving him are one son, Eldor Mellenthin of Spencer one sister, Mrs. Alma Glaman of Marshfield one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.


Preceding him in death were his wife, Elsie, in Feb. 1977 his parents and four sisters.
