Sanders, Pat (1974 - 2002)


Pat Sanders, 27, Neillsville, Clark County, died in a car accident on Monday, Jan. 14, 2002. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 18, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Kevin Hanke will officiate. Music will be provided by Eileen Zank, organist. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, and from 2-3 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 18, at the Gesche Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Attalsy, Brian Begert, Mark Begert, Alan Buchholz, Jim Cornwall, Julie Nussbaum, Hung Pham, Scott Quicker, Gregg Sanders and Russ Kandler.


Pat W. Sanders was born on Sept. 11, 1974, in Black River Falls, to Steven and Melinda (nee Tennant) Sanders. While living in Humbird, he attended school in Fairchild to the fifth grade and then graduated from Alma-Center High School. After graduation, he worked on the Jack Counsell farm in Neillsville for a short time and then moved to Minneapolis, where he apprenticed in marble flooring. Later, he moved back to Neillsville, lived with the Larry and Lynette Engevold family and worked at Leeson Electric in Black River Falls for three years. He also worked with his brother, Steve, at PVZ in Little Chute, installing piping for heating, air conditioning and ventilation. He then attended the Oklahoma Farrier College in Sperry, Okla. After completing his course work, he moved back to Neillsville and operated Pat Sanders Professional Farrier Service, doing normal and corrective shoeing, trimming and general hoof care in Duluth, Minn., and central Wisconsin. Along with his farrier business, he also worked with and was in partnership with Larry and Lynette Engevold, operating Wilderness Pursuit, a trail riding business in Neillsville. His interests included his family, hiking, shopping, martial arts, and horseback riding.


Survivors include his father, Steve (Linda) Sanders, Hatfield his mother, Melinda (Ken Durst) Sanders, Neillsville three brothers, Steve (Rhonda) Sanders, Humbird, Scott (Lorrie) Sanders, Humbird, and Travis (Carrie) Sanders, Eau Claire his grandparents, Frances and Howard Sanders, Humbird, and Wilma Miller, Merrillan seven nieces and nephews along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.


He was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Tennant two uncles, Mike and Bill Tennant and one cousin, Travis Sheffer.


The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
