Colby, Lucy (1891 - 1981)


Funeral services for Lucy Colby, 90, route 1, Unity, were at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby.


Mrs. Colby died at her home on Saturday, Sept. 5, 1981, at 3:05 p.m.


Officiating at the services was Rev. Charles strong. Interment was in the Town of Brighton Cemetery.


Lucy Mayville was born on Sept. 2, 1891, in Unity to the late Ephraim and Loretta (nee Grant) Mayville. She received her education at Unity.


She was married to Henry Dean Colby on June 18, 1908, at Stevens Point. They spent most of their life in the Abbotsford-Unity area, except for the three years from 1920-23 when she lived in Colorado.


She was a member of Colby United Methodist Church and a past member of the Brighton Homemakers.


Surviving her are two sons, Lloyd of Unity and Dennis of Greenwood six daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Lottie) Lynn, Sr. of Unity, Mrs. Glendon (Virjean) Ladd of Milwaukee, Mrs. Merlin (Nancy) Delo of Loyal, Mrs. Archie (Beverly) Kempke of Milwaukee, Mrs. John (Erma) Peters of Neenah and Eleanora Colby of Unity one brother, Dewey Mayville of Milwaukee one sister, Mrs. William (Melissa) Fieldgrove of Shawano 29 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.


Preceding her in death were her husband in 937 two sons three brothers and two sisters.


Rux-Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, handled arrangements.
