Witt, Elmer (1900 - 1983)

Funeral services for Elmer Witt, 83, formerly of Loyal, Clark County, who had been residing at Clark County Health Care Center, Owen, were at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, 1983.

Mr. Witt died at 10:10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 17, 1983, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Rev. Joseph R. Kraly officiated at the service at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal. Interment was in the Loyal Cemetery.

Elmer Witt was born to Fred and Alvina (nee Knaack) Witt, on March 8, 1900, at Outagamie County.

He was married to Emma Lange on June 15, 1923. She died in 1927. On Oct. 28, 1936, he and Meta Haslow were married. She died in Nov. 1982.

He farmed in the Townships of Loyal and Beaver, where he rented land. He later moved to Abbotsford and worked for Stickert Lumber Co. He came back to Loyal in 1970, where he resided until entering the Health Care Center.

Survivors include two sons, John of Alexandria, Minn. and Harvey Witt of Abbotsford three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Elda) Lebeck of Marshfield, Mrs. Hilda Laufenberg of Milwaukee and Mrs. Edna Degner of Green Bay.

Serving as pallbearers were Walter Seeger, Walter Wucherpfennig, Walter Hoover, Gerald Schwantes, Larry Kadolph, Harvey Wit Jr., and Russell Haslow. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, handled arrangements.

Preceding him in death were two brothers.
