Mary Klune, 88, Neillsville, Clark County, died on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1996, at the Neillsville Memorial Home, Neillsville. A Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, 1996, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Neillsville. Father Joseph Henseler officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery.


Mary Harvet was born on Sept. 22, 1907, in Aspen, Colorado, to John and Johana Harvet. At the age of seven, she moved to Willard with her parents. She attended the Willard School and at the age of 19 she worked in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Chippewa Falls for one year. She then went to Milwaukee, where she worked in a restaurant for two years. She married Joseph Klune on Aug. 10, 1929. They live in Milwaukee for 15 years. In 1944, they moved to Greenwood and purchased the Frank Labounty Tavern and Restaurant, which they operated for 20 years. Her husband died in 1964. She remained in the Greenwood area for six years after his death. She then moved to Neillsville in 1972.


Survivors include three children, Edward Klune, Merrill Mrs. Delores Thiel, Greenwood and Ramon Klune, Cincinnati, Ohio one sister, Mrs. Val Krainz, Willard several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and one sister,


Gesche Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
