Blaasch, Harold (19 AUG 1917 - 4 JUL 1985)


Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 1985 at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood for Harold Blaasch, 67, of Greenwood, Clark County. He died July 4, 1985 at the Neillsville Hospital.

Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Greenwood American Legion. Rev. Norbert Miller officiated. Pallbearers were Marty Hillert, Harry Johnson, Robert Vesel, Gary French, John Zagozen and Leon Kuester.

He was born at Rib Lake on Aug. 19, 1917 to Edward and Anna (nee Meyer) Blaasch. He graduated from Rib Lake High School and the Wausau Business College. He married Theresa Arends on May 23, 1941. He was employed at Western Condensery in Owen until he entered the Army on Dec. 7, 1942. He served in the European Theater in France, Germany and Czechoslovakia with the 94th Division Band and Signal Corp. He was discharged on Jan. 3, 1946. He was employed as an electrical inspector at Clark Electric Cooperative at Greenwood for 35 years, retiring in August 1982.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Greenwood, the church choir, the Clark County Male Chorus, the Greenwood American Legion and the International Electrical Inspectors Association.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa, his father, Edward Blaasch of the Medford Memorial Home, a sister, Mrs. Melville Rief of Medford and nephew, John Rief of Medford.

He is preceded in death by a 4 month-old son, William who died May 14, 1947, and his mother who died Feb. 26, 1985.

Rinka Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
